Sponsor a Resident

You probably have little room in your backyard or condo for a horse!  We offer a chance for you to participate in a rescue horse's life through our monthly sponsorship program.   Sponsoring a horse ("virtual fostering") is easy and makes a great gift.  You can gift yourself - or someone else - a sponsorship for $50 a month.   

Any of our animals can be sponsored. Select any horse or other animal that you'd like to sponsor from the horses for adoption, foster horses, permanent resident horses (listed below), or other resident animals.   You will receive a certificate with a write-up on the horse you have chosen to sponsor.  In addition, your name will appear on our website next to your sponsored horse's name.

When you sponsor a resident, this is what you help us do:

• provide feed
• provide shelter
• provide horse jackets or blankets as needed
• provide medical care as needed
• provide trimming (farrier)

In addition to the permanent residents in need of sponsoring listed on this page, we also have horses for adoption and horses for fostering. Horses for adoption tend to be sound and healthy and would make good riding prospects. Horses for fostering usually have health or temperament issues or are not sound, so are suitable as companion animals or “pasture ornaments” only.

 Permanent Resident Horses

These horses are rescues that are permanent residents of Bear Valley, either due to age, health, or personality issues. All of these special horses are looking for sponsors.  When you sponsor one of these horses for $50/month we'll send you a certificate of the horse you have selected and list you below next to their name as their personal sponsor.  In addition, we will send you a tax-deductible receipt for the full amount of your donation.  In very special situations we may foster out a resident horse but only to very experienced, knowledgeable homes, and only if it would not be too stressful for the horse to be relocated, nor too far from the Rescue so that we can monitor the horse.

To sponsor a resident

1. Download the sponsorship form.
2. ​Print and complete the Sponsorship Form.
3. Return your completed form to us  via email, mail, or in person.
4. Donate via  one of the following methods:
   

• ​Send post-dated cheques directly to the Rescue
• E-transfer to bearvalleyab@aol.com
• Set up a monthly or one-time donation through the Canada Helps or the Paypal Donate link below, or
• Set up a monthly  electronic funds transfer (EFT).  Contact us for more information.
