Duncan Macleod

Duncan is an elderly donkey that came to us in April, 2024.  He was originally at another rescue where the owner passed away the previous year and unfortunately Duncan was neglected and was not receiving age-appropriate care.  Sadly there were another 14 equines at the property that were also neglected, but we took in Duncan immediately because of his poor condition.  On intake it was determined he is probably close to 30 years old.  His teeth were in poor shape, where his incisors are worn down to nothing and his molars were very sharp, though surprisingly none were missing.  Duncan also had a bad case of lice.  Most obvious, though, were his badly overgrown hooves and a severe case of stringhalt.  He is now receiving good food, proper vet and farrier care, and it doing much better!  His stringhalt is almost completely resolved and his hooves are improved.
