Claire

Claire  is a beautiful, purebred, QH mare. We purchased her at auction as a weanling in 2008.  Claire injured her eye as a yearling. We were able to save her eye but not the vision in it, so she is blind in that eye. Claire has grown into a lovely big mare.  Claire has been haltered and trimmed but after a serious injury to her chest when she was about 3 that required treatment she is less keen on being handled.  Claire developed a tumor in her blind eye in 2022.  We had the tumor removed but it grew back so in the fall of 2022 Claire had to have her one eye removed.  She was good for the surgery and recovered well.
Claire also was injured in a cattle guard (texas gate) summer of 2024.  She received some serious cuts and fractured the outside splint bone in her hind leg.  After 6 weeks of recovery she was able to return to the herd.
