Shantara

Shantara is a black Arabian mare born in April, 2001.  She was registered as Gazon Shantara BG but her papers have been lost.  Shantara received some professional training (60 days) when she was younger and her owner did ride her many years ago but said she was always spooking and nervous and she hasn't been ridden or handled since 2016.  Shantara was surrendered, along with 2 other horses, in July, 2023 when her owners could no longer manage their care due to lack of handling and experience on the owners' part.  We have been working with Shantara on haltering so she's getting better.  She does seem to have some soundness issues, possibly from laminitis, in one front foot.  We have been able to trim her with sedation - her one hoof was very overgrown.
