Warrior

Warrior is a paint gelding who was surrendered to us in spring, 2016, in bad shape.  We estimate he was born about 2009, is halterbroke but nervous of being caught, though once caught he is well mannered on the halter.  His hooves, when he arrived, were terrible condition - his front hooves were broken off too short, one with an obvious abscess, and his back feet were overly long and misshapen.  He wasn't footbroke so we had him sedated in order to trim his feet. We were horrified to find that his soles on three of his feet were crumbling apart and he had huge holes in the soles, likely due to old abscesses.  Both our vet and our farrier were amazed that he could stand, let alone walk, with such bad hooves - he wasn't even limping.   He had to have his hooves wrapped for protection and with proper care and trimming we are happy to say that within a few months his feet recovered completely.  It was truly a remarkable recovery.
