Kahlua#2
Kahlua is an appaloosa mare that came to Bear Valley in 2012 as a surrender from a breeder. She was born about 1998 and was blind in one eye when she came to the Rescue. She has since lost most of the sight in her other eye as well. She is halterbroke and is an easy keeper. She can be a bit nervous around other horses due to her blindness but generally she manages well and is a dominant mare. Kahlua has heaves which is like asthma in people so she cannot be fed hay that may be dusty. She also 'cribs' if left alone or without free choice hay. She is bonded with Blizzard, another of our blind horses. Kahlua developed glaucoma in the summer of 2018 so she now gets eye drops every day to control it.
