Odessa

Odessa is a filly that arrived from a meat buyer in late 2023.  She is from bucking stock and was born in 2023.  Odessa came to us with 2 large hot-iron brands, one on her shoulder and one on her hip, that caused her considerable trauma - the only handling she'd had before coming to us.  The brand on her shoulder was very infected.  In addition to the brands she was very emaciated and in poor condition with a heavy worm load. We were able to clean up her brand and give her antibiotics and she has healed up.  Odessa also had strangles (distemper) on arrival and was quarantined while she recovered.  She is getting friendlier and is eager for her daily extra feedings.  She has been haltered and is learning to have her feet handled.
