Angel Sonnet
Sweet little Angel Sonnet was a wildie foal that came to us on April 24, 2023 at about 2 weeks of age. Angel had been rejected by her herd as she was born with severe tendon laxity in her front feet. The herd stallion was chasing her away. from her mom and herd. Once Angel came into our care we had her xrayed to determine if she had any fractures or bone deformities. Everything looked good on her xrays so the issue was only with her stretched out tendons. She also had sores that had developed on the backs of her fetlocks from when she was walking in the wild.
With the support and wraps that we provided her she was very happy, able to run and buck for the first time. We got proper casts that were molded for her and we adjusted her wraps daily, looking for any small improvement that would indicate she was getting better. We wanted to give her every chance for recovery but sadly, after 3 weeks, it was obvious that, even as she gained weight and grew, there was no improvement in her tendons. We had to make the heartbreaking decision to put her down and she crossed the rainbow bridge on May 19th. Angel captured the hearts of everyone who met her and many tears were shed when we lost her. We'd do it again in a minute though. Her life may have been short but it was meaningful nonetheless.
