Whisper#3
Whisper is a tall grey paint gelding born in 2015. He originally came to the Rescue in summer of 2018 as an unhandled colt. He'd been running loose on someone's land, an escapee from a neighbour, and eventually they wanted rid of him or were going to sell him for bear bait. We took him in, got him gelded and he was adopted in 2018. We were told that Whisper proved to be difficult to work with. He was with 2 different trainers for a total of 8 months but was still very fearful and unpredictable. He had lots of groundwork done and was saddled several times but was deemed too dangerous to make a good riding horse. He was returned to us in the summer of 2019.
Whisper responds very well to positive reinforcement training. He does have a slightly turned out back leg but it doesn't cause him any problems. He went to a foster home in 2020 and is now broke to ride, though he has only had the one person ride him. He has been ridden bareback, english and western, in an arena and outside. He came back to the Rescue in summer of 2022 from his foster. I would still consider him greenbroke until he gets used to a new person but he is friendly, so-so for the farrier, trailers well.
